The official establishment of ETIM Italy – April 2025

The raw materials, plumbing, heating, and electrical distribution sectors unite in ETIM Italy, a business network for the classification of products in the construction, electrical, and plumbing/heating industries according to the international ETIM (ETIM Technical Information Model) standard.

Following the letter of intent signed a year ago, April 29, 2025 marks the official establishment with the notarized deed signed in Milan on April 15th at the Milan headquarters of Confcommercio by Giorgio Casanova, General Manager of Metel Srl, Gabriele Nicoli, Vice President of Sercomated with responsibility for Digital, and Corrado Oppizzi, Director of Servizi ANGAISA Srl and Secretary General of ANGAISA, in the presence of Mario Verduci, CEO of Sercomated and Secretary General of Federcomated.

A historic agreement unites a sector worth 54.4 billion euros, of which the three entities that have joined the ETIM Italy business network – namely Sercomated, Angaisa, and Metel – represent almost 80%, amounting to 42.8 billion euros, 10,400 points of sale, and 91,000 employees.

Over 700,000 businesses in Italy are involved, including 600,000 in construction with 2 million employees, in addition to tens of thousands of professionals such as surveyors, architects, and engineers, not to mention the manufacturers, wholesalers, and distributors of materials.

ETIM Italy will classify all products according to the parameters of ETIM International, filling in all currently missing data and requesting changes to incorrect classifications. This is an important activity that will primarily concern production, but also the entire supply chain, from manufacturing to distribution and designers. This activity also has implications for BIM (Building Information Modeling) and, consequently, for companies and installers. The overall goal is to speed up and standardize the reception of fundamental data for the construction sector.
