Milan: set to host Stihl Timbersports World Championship 2025

The Stihl Timbersports World Championship 2025 is set to arrive in Milan, at the Allianz Cloud Arena, on October 24th and 25th. This event returns Italy to the international stage for this renowned series of extreme sporting competitions centered on wood chopping. Following the great success of the 2024 World Trophy, the circuit is coming back to the Lombard capital with its most prestigious event.

On Friday, October 24th, and Saturday, October 25th, the Allianz Cloud Arena will host the planet’s top “wood heroes” for two days of breathtaking challenges. The event is expected to attract 3,000 spectators per day, while 120 of the world’s best athletes from 20 nations will battle it out in a high-intensity two-day event.

“We are thrilled to bring the Stihl Timbersports World Championship to Milan for the first time. The city is a key destination for major international sporting events,” said Massimo Gallo, CEO of Stihl Italy. “This event offers a unique opportunity to introduce the Italian public to a fascinating and extreme sport where strength, precision, and tradition blend into spectacular performances. We are confident that the athletes’ passion and the city’s energy will make this an unforgettable edition. Additionally, for the second consecutive year, ERSAF – the regional body for agricultural and forestry services – has chosen to grant us its patronage. This recognizes the value and credibility of our initiatives to protect the environment and promote greater ecological awareness, which are fundamental principles of the Stihl brand.”

Stihl Timbersports World Championship: Event Schedule

The event will kick off on Friday, October 24th, with the Team World Championship. This is a knockout-style competition where the best national teams will compete in four iconic disciplines: Stock Saw, Single Buck, Underhand Chop, and Standing Block Chop.

The Chopperhoos, the reigning champion Australian team after their victory in Toulouse 2024, are aiming to lift their tenth world title. A potential victory would mark their sixth consecutive triumph, but the challenges are expected to be more competitive than ever as teams try to break their dominance. There’s also great anticipation for the Italian national team, ready to put on a show and ignite the home crowd.

On Saturday, October 25th, the spotlight will be on the individual competition: the world’s 12 best wood heroes will take the stage at the Allianz Cloud to compete in all six Stihl Timbersports disciplines (Stock Saw, Single Buck, Underhand Chop, Standing Block Chop, Springboard, and Hot Saw) in a three-round elimination format. Only the best will earn the title of Stihl Timbersports 2025 World Champion.

The national champions of Australia, the United States, Canada, and New Zealand will face off against the eight best European athletes. As the host, the Italian Pro category champion will have a guaranteed spot in the competition.
