Brico io reorganizes its network and reveals upcoming openings

Brico io outlines its operational priorities for 2026, announcing a reorganization of its commercial perimeter.

The company confirms the termination of affiliation agreements with ten franchised outlets and the closure of its directly managed store in Livorno by January 2026; meanwhile, it announces several new acquisitions and openings for the first months of the year.

The operation aims to optimize the efficiency of the sales network during the current year, recovering essential financial resources to support a new cycle of acquisitions and openings already scheduled for the first four months.

STREAMLINING AND RELAUNCH

The company confirms the termination of affiliation agreements with ten sales outlets and the closure of its directly operated store in Livorno by January 2026. This reorganization follows targeted management criteria, primarily linked to four factors:

  1. Performance: The decommissioning of locations that no longer align with the company’s profitability targets.
  2. Commercial choices: The transition of the Erba affiliate to the OBI brand (still under a franchise agreement), coinciding with the natural expiration of the contract with Brico io.
  3. Format Review: The conclusion of several shop-in-shop trials within specialized or grocery contexts that failed to meet expected metrics.
  4. Generational Turnover: Acknowledging the conclusion of the business cycle for several long-standing franchise managements, where the necessary conditions for a handover were not met.

Statement from CEO Paolo Micolucci: “Our goal for 2026 is to consolidate in order to grow. We have made deliberate decisions—sometimes difficult ones—that are nonetheless essential to ensure the health and long-term outlook of our network. Streamlining certain locations allows us to regain efficiency and liquidity; these are resources we have chosen not to tie down, but to reinvest immediately. We are closing where the conditions for excellence no longer exist, so that we can open and acquire new sites where we see a future and value for the Brico io brand.”

2026 DEVELOPMENT: THE SCHEDULE OF NEW OPERATIONS

The resources generated by the reorganization will support a development plan already underway in the first months of the year:

  • January 2026: Acquisition and transition to direct management of the long-standing franchise location in Massa.
  • February 2026: Acquisition of the Porto San Giorgio (FM) store, taken over from the current affiliate, Speed srl, which will continue to manage the Brico io outlet in Montelupone (MC).
  • March 2026: New opening in Diano Marina (IM).

The second four-month period will see Brico io engaged in further operations, currently being finalized, confirming the company’s commitment to maintaining a dynamic and driving role in the Do-It-Yourself market.
